Important Notes:

Using open graph is the easiest way to integrate images for social media cards on Twitter and Facebook.
The following are steps to add an image to your article that you might share on Twitter or Facebook.

  1. Log into Joomla
  2. Go to K2 items and create a new item or edit an existing item. (Component > k2 > Items )
  3. Inside the article locate the images tab located near the content tab.
  4. Upload an image or select an existing image from the server.
  5. Save your item.

Turning off the image display from within an article.

  1. Go to Component > k2 > Items and select an Item.
  2. Go to display settings > Item view options
  3. Select Image > (Select) Hide
  4. Please also make sure you fill out the relevant meta tag information under the “Publish and Metadata”, this meta tag info is what facebook and twitter pull into their site over text content.

Turning off the image display for a set of articles in a category

  1. Go to Component > k2 > Categories
  2. Select a category
  3. Display settings > Item view options > Image
  4. Select Image > (Select) Hide

 

Normally, you can add, edit and delete users and passwords from the back-end User Manager. To do this, you must be logged in as a member of the Super Administrator group.

In some situations, this may not be possible. For example, your site may have been “hacked” and had the passwords or users changed. Or perhaps the person who knew the passwords is no longer available. Or maybe you have forgotten the password that was used.

In these cases, it is still possible to alter the Joomla! database so you can log back in as a Super Administrator. These are the possible methods available to Joomla! administrators.

  1. Log into the Joomla admin console.
  2. Once logged in navigate to the menu you would like to create your new article into.
    For this example, the menu we are choosing is “Navigation Menu”.
  3. Once you’ve clicked on the menu you will see all the menu items that are listed on the site.
  4. click the “New” button to add a new menu item
  5. Title:
    First, enter the title or the name of your menu item.
  6. Alias:
    (!important
    This defines the link address of the URL you are creating. Pay close attention to how this affects your page URL)
    Let Joomla do the work for you here, so leave it black when you click save it will automatically generate an alias.
    If you are not happy with the alias being generated by Joomla, then you can go ahead and change it.
  7. Details: 
    1. Menu item type:

      1. Click on the ‘Menu type button’.

      2. Then find the K2 tab and choose Item
      3. Now click the select button to choose your k2 item.
      4. Use the filter to find your article and simply click on it to select it.
    2. Menu:
      Your menu tab should already be selected as “Navigation Menu”.
    3. Parent Item:
      1. ‘Menu Item Root’ – Will make this item appear at the very top of the menu
      2. Choosing another menu item here will mean that this new menu item you are creating will fall under another menu item.
    4. Ordering
      You are able to change the order, simply by selecting which menu item you would like this new item to appear before.
  8. Metadata
    Metadata information is used within the code of the website to improve its SEO.

    1. Meta Description:
      Fill in a simple description of this page that is no more than 15 words long.
    2. Meta Keywords
      Fill in keywords you think are relevant to the menu item and page you are setting up. Ensure your keywords are separated by a comma.
  9. Click save.
    You should now be able to see a new active menu item on the front end, set up at the exact hierarchical level you have chosen for the item to be in.

  1. Log into Joomla backend administrator.
  2. Once you are logged in go to:

    Components > K2 > Items

  3. Now you will see the entire list of items/articles that are available in K2.
  4. Click the new button to create a new article.
  5. Fill in the relevant information
    1. Title:
      Fill in the title
    2. Title alias (URL):
      Let Joomla dynamically fill in this part for you.

      Choose the category this article will fall under
    4. Published:
      Set to yes or this article will not display.

      Note that tags already exist in the K2 system and are created outside of this article page.
    6. Access Level:
      Set this to the public if you want everyone to see what you have written.
  6. Populate the page content:
    1. Category description:
      This is the actual content of your item/article/page. Place all the relevant text-based content in this part of the website.
    2. Media:
      Once in the media section choose the media tab, and in the media, tab either choose “Use online video service” or “Embed”.

      1. Use online video service:
        If you do choose this option to ensure that you select the right video provider and only use the ID of the video.
      2. Embed:
        If you do choose this option please copy and paste the entire embed code in “Paste HTML embed code below”(Note: Videos are automatically arranged at the base of the article in the front end).
    3. Attachments:
      Use this tab to attach any files that you might want to be included with this article.

  8. Save your file.
  9. To edit any one of the existing k2 Items please go to the Items list by going to:
    Components > K2 > Items
    and simply click on one of the existing items to edit them, they follow the same format and layout when creating a new item except in this case you will be updating an already existing item.
